23 June Update: The event has now been cancelled again
Splendour Festival organisers have confirmed the event will return to Wollaton Park in July.
After being cancelled in 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Nottingham music festival is set to return with a one-day event in summer.
The announcement follows around 11 months of concern regarding mass gatherings – including concerts and festivals – which were heavily impacted by social distancing measures.
The 2021 Splendour Festival line-up is set to include Richard Ashcroft, Supergrass and Rick Astley.
The Vamps, Belinda Carlisle and Becky Hill are also set to perform, with more names due to be announced in the lead up.
The event will take place on Saturday 24th July at Wollaton Park, its home since the first event in 2008.
Past events have included diverse headliners such as Scissor Sisters, Pet Shop Boys, Kaiser Chiefs, The Specials, Jess Glyne and Dizzee Rascal.
Splendour is also known to host showcases from local Nottinghamshire talent, and has featured past performances from Dog is Dead, Bru-C and Clifton’s Jake Bugg.
Nusic competition winner Tori Sheard will represent the city this year.
