Today (6 October) roadworks have started to improve the A52 Bingham Road junction in Radcliffe on Trent.
Last month Highways England announced six months of work will take place.
It follows 12 weeks of traffic disruption from utility relocation work done in the area starting in June this year.
Work will take place on Monday to Friday between 8am and 6pm from today to April 2022.
The activity will mean temporary traffic management measures are put in place to enable free flow of traffic down both sides of the carriageway.
The junctions at both the Carter Avenue and Bingham Road junctions to the A52 will remain closed for the duration of the works.
Diversions will be in place for cars, pedestrians and cyclists while the work takes place.
The six-month project is part of the ongoing A52 improvement work, as part of the government’s Road Investment Strategy that saw changes to the junctions at Nottingham Road and Cropwell Road.
Kanishka Varoon, Project Manager for National Highways, spoke exclusively to Nottingham Post and said: “The scheme is incredibly important for Nottingham because it will alleviate congestion along the A52.
“The A52 is an important east-west link across the East Midlands and this route regularly experiences congestion due to capacity issues at key junctions, resulting in significant queuing and delays for motorists.
“Once complete, this scheme will improve journeys, help address existing delays and support planned new development along the A52 and around Nottinghamshire.
“While we’re doing everything we can to keep people informed of progress, I’m sure local residents will have questions around the latest plans and traffic management, so we encourage everyone to join in or get in touch with us to find out more.”
Highways England have ensured nearby residents that access will be maintained at all times to properties in the affected area.
Temporary parking restrictions have been put in place in sections of Cropwell Road from 8:00am to 4:30pm, Monday to Friday, to enable buses to travel safely along the diversion route.
