Rushcliffe Day Nurseries, which has a branch in Radcliffe on Trent, has been sold to large childcare provider Grandir UK.
On Monday the announcement was made that new owners have taken over control of the business.
Former owner Anne Prescott set up Rushcliffe Day Nurseries in 1999 and has managed the business up to its sale.
In a letter to parents of children at the nursery, Ms Prescott said: “…the time has come to hang up my nursery owner responsibilities and allow others to take up the mantel for Rushcliffe Day Nurseries Ltd. The teams now need more inspiration and support from passionate owners, and I am convinced that Grandir UK who are the new owners of Rushcliffe Day Nurseries Ltd, will be able to rise to the challenge.”
Rushcliffe Day Nurseries began with its first branch in Ruddington in 1999, before expanding to Radcliffe and West Bridgford.
The borough’s local nursery chain has a combined capacity of 300 children and cares for children until they reach school age.
Grandir UK also owns Kiddi Caru, Pippins, Dicky Birds and Daydream Day Nurseries nurseries that operate throughout England.
In a letter to nursery parents, Grandir UK operations director Heather Young said: “Anne Prescott has confidently left the nursery in our safe hands as we continue to provide the same high level of quality childcare that she has created over the last 20 years.”
Coulter Consulting oversaw the sale.
Speaking to DayNurseries.co.uk, Coulter Consulting owner Andrew Coulter said: “For 23 years, Anne has given her all to the business and to providing outstanding childcare with true passion. “I am very aware that the prospect of embarking on a potentially complex sale process was daunting for Anne and therefore taking the first step by contacting me was a hard decision.
“My brief was to find a suitable buyer, whilst bearing in mind that speed and simplicity were key. The process was therefore targeted and highly confidential to avoid disruption for staff and parents.
“Most staff are very long standing and loyal employees so understandably it has been an emotional time for Anne. But it was the right time to sell and I am confident that Grandir UK will offer excellent career progression opportunities for the staff.”
