Highways England has confirmed its expected completion date for A52 works at the Bingham Lane junction.
On Friday 13 May the highways authority issued a statement suggesting it is nearing completion of the A52 work in Radcliffe on Trent, and it will be in full operation by the end of June.
Once complete the carriageway at the junction will be widened and will have permanent traffic lights installed.
The project has been ongoing since June last year and has been noted by residents for causing delays and disruptions, thanks to road closures, diverted bus routes and temporary traffic lights.
A spokesperson for National Highways, speaking exclusively to Nottingham Post, said: “Our junction improvements work on the A52 at Bingham Road, in Radcliffe-on-Trent, is due to be completed by the end of June 2022. Our original planned completion date was pushed back because we unexpectedly uncovered utility pipework and cabling, which meant we had to suspend work until inspections confirmed these services were no longer in use and could be capped off.
“Coupled with national shortages of essential materials, which have led to delayed deliveries, our revised completion date is forecast for the end of next month.”
The busy route A52 has experienced a number of disruptions over the past year, with work occurring at Gamston roundabout and Stragglethorpe, as well as the junction in Radcliffe.
A National Highways spokesperson continued: “While the junction improvements work is continuing, we need to maintain the current parking restrictions on Cropwell Road. The parking restrictions are important because they enable us to keep traffic moving and ensure the safety of children travelling to and from school.
“We understand the parking restrictions and construction work cause inconvenience for the local community. We thank you for your patience over the last six months and assure you we’ll continue to work as quickly and safely as possible.”
